Funding and grant support

Travel Funding

Funding is available from multiple sources close to Young Farmers. See the list below to see funding available, also remember that clubs and districts can be asked for funding for trips.

Due to the nature of group trips being leisure based rather than a personal development exchange, there will be fewer funding sources that you can apply to. The International Trust will donate to group trips; those in the West region can apply to Ellen Kerr and for all others, the main opportunity would be asking your club or District. There will be more funding sources available for the Agri and Rural Affairs group study tours.

International Trust

Travellers who successfully apply for a trip will receive a grant from the International Trust set up to specifically support Young Farmers. There is no need to submit an application, this funding is arranged through SAYFC.

Young Farmers Ambassadors (YFA)

This is a committee made up of past and present young farmers who have already had the opportunity to enjoy travel with SAYFC. As well as funding for SAYFC homestay trips and Rural Youth Europe trips, you can apply for the Young Farmers Ambassadors Award which offers £700 of funding for members looking to travel abroad and study a subject of their choice. The YFA will not give funding towards group trips.
