15 Mar New Members Spotlight! Darren Cumming, Stranraer & Rhins YFC
What is your story away from YF?
Hello, I’m Darren from Stranraer and Rhins Young Farmers Club. I live on a small dairy farm milking 100 cows and working with a variety of young cattle. Some of my hobbies involve playing sports and I have a big interest in aviation.
Why did you join?
I joined Young Farmers back in 2021 when I saw a sports night was being hosted. This gave me a good opportunity to meet new people and get me out of the house.
What have you got out of YF?
I have now been part of the young farmers for 3 very successful years in which I have won a few awards. Within the young farmers so far I have been given plenty of opportunities to take part in activities and travel. This year I am heading to Ulster on an SAYFC Exchange. I was part of a group who went on club exchange last September and when I saw the opportunity to go again I couldn’t resist.
What do you want to get out of YF in the future?
In the next couple of years I would like to see more opportunities to travel the world via SAYFC and hopefully make more friends abroad and have more days away for activities.
