17 Sep East & West Beef Cattle Dress
On Sunday 15th September, The East and West Region joined forces and held a joint Beef Cattle Dressing Competition. With 12 junior entries and 14 senior, Stirling UA Market was a busy place filled with calves, combs and clippers. Challenged with the difficult task of judging was Andrew McNee and Alistair McSporran. Both commenting on how high the standard of competition was and giving our competitors feedback and top tips. The top 3 senior teams and top 2 junior’s will go on to compete in the National Final on Sunday 20th October at Ayr Market. The final results are as below:
East Juniors:
1st – Ruby Simpson and Rory Wood, Strathmore JAC
West Juniors:
1st – Craig McKinnel and Katie McGuire, Machars YFC
2nd – Amy Scott and Kirsty Craig, Beith YFC
3rd – Emma Kerr and Louise Kerr, Ayr YFC
East Seniors:
1st – Alan Lindsay and Thomas Marshall, Bathgate JAC
2nd – Robert Kennedy and James Kennedy, East Lothian JAC
3rd – Wallace Mackie and Hannah Graham, Strathearn JAC
West Seniors:
1st – Ross Montgomerie and Andrew Nisbet, Kilmaurs YFC
2nd – Jack Young and Heather Currie, Carluke YFC
3rd – James Rae and Mollie Keillie, Stewartry, YFC
A big thank you must go to Murray Steel and all the stewards and office bearers who helped keep the day running so smoothly and a very big thank you must also go to Iain Struthers who very kindly donated all the cattle for the competition. Congratulations again to all of our prize winners and good luck to all the teams going on to compete at National.
