New Members Spotlight! Joanne Cameron- Banks of Tay

Joanne Cameron- Banks of Tay

Hi, my name is Joanne Cameron and I’m 22 years old and a member of  Banks Of Tay Young Farmers. I’ve grown up on a livestock family farm near Rait in Perthshire.

What is your story away from YF?

I’ve always had a love for animals from an early age which has led me to set up my own dog walking and pet service business. I enjoy playing most sports and play tennis for my local club.

Why did you join?

I have always enjoyed hearing stories from my parents/family friends of their time growing up in Young Farmers. I finally took the plunge to join my local club which has helped me make new friends with similar interests and hobbies to myself.

What have you got out of YF?

Young Farmers has given me the ability to feel part of a team, enjoy new experiences, it has also given me the confidence to express myself and to learn new skills. So far I have enjoyed meeting new people from different clubs at district events.

What do you want to get out of YF in the future?

I hope to gain more life experience and push myself out of my comfort zone. If time allowed it exchange and ski trips sound exciting too. I have recently been given the position of Assistant Secretary for the club. I am looking forward to getting involved and helping the club in the coming year.

What’s your favourite random fact?

I was born 10 weeks premature at only 2lb 10oz.
