Perthshire Claim First Place at Cabaret 2023
This year saw the return of the Young Farmers Cabaret to the Perth Concert Hall for the 16th ย year running, with members performing to a packed audience on Saturday 11th of February 2023
Seven teams took to the stage in the hope to sing, dance and frolic their way to top place. Introduced by East Region Chair Jennifer Jones, the teams consisted of Perthshire District, Bathgate JAC, West Fife YFC, Kinross JAC, Strathmore JAC, Brechin JAC and Forfar JAC. Judging the acts were the highly esteemed trio of Mrs Marianne Hodge, Mrs Kim Livesy and Mr James Drief.
Jake Mirley from Reston JAC opened up the show treating the crowd to some wonderful tunes on his bagpipes.
Reigning supreme on the night and taking home the B.P Farm Service Perpetual Trophy with 90 ย points was Perthshire District with their production of โNot Ready To Restโ produced by Ally Marshall.
Securing second place with 89 points was the team from Bathgate JAC ย with their performance โWhoโs The Pharaoh Of Them Allโ produced by the full cast.ย Soaring into third place with โThe Forfar Vetโ was Forfar JAC, Produced by Avril Aitken. Faye Weatherup from West Fife YFC received the trophy for Best Act out with the winning team with her portrayal of โCharlieโs Grannyโ with Fraser Dandie from Forfar JAC claiming the Best Comedy act certificate for strutting his stuff on stage as โThe Forfar Vetโ.
Closing the evening with an act from their most recent concert was East Kilbride YFC with their EK Bulldogs Dance Troupe and Katrina and Craig from Aberfeldy and District JAC who sang and ย Both acts certainly kept our audience entertained while our judges were busy finalising the results.
Our thanks must also go The Perth Concert Hall staff, raffle donators, audience, East Region district stewards for all their assistance and of course the seven outstanding acts which entertained us all through the evening. A huge thank you is also extended to Scotmin Nutrition for supporting the event, by providing excellent support and presenting winners with their prizes on the evening.
The notorious dance that follows the competition was held at Ego Nightclub, Perth where many members arrived to celebrate the evening together.
