Lynn Ronaldson’s Bob tops Inaugural SAYFC National Sheepdog Final
The Final of this years SAYFC National sheepdog Trials took place by kind permission of NSA at Scotsheep, Aikengall Farm, Dunbar.
This year’s competition was sponsored by ISDS, Gilbertson & Paige and Logan Whistles.
A Cautious attitude from Bob, saved the day and won the final at Aikengall, Dunbar for Lynn Ronaldson Bower YF. It proved to be a nail bighting final between Lynn and Daniel Worthington of Halkirk YF.
Lynn’s Bob worked well and commanded excellent control over the freshly clipped packet of Mules, the Mules were sparky and showed attitude towards many of the dogs. Lynn had clean outrun and lift, and showed skill in the drive and fetch when the dog was challenged. A clean pen and good shed gave a winning score of 80. Daniel ran with his dog, also named Bob, Bob settled the sheep well with a lovely clean lift and a good drive. It was a nail biting run as the clock was ticking and he was on course to challenge first place, however a difficult pen resulted in Daniel just running out of time on the shed with seconds to spare.
The Intermediate Handlers section also proved to be a hotly contested, but it was Ben McSporran from Peeblesshire JAC who eventually took first place with his bitch Cass, Laura Moore Brechin was closely contesting first place with her dog Finn and just ran out of time in the final in hand work.
Judge Jimmy Ogston, Scottish ISDS President, was impressed by the standard of the runs and was enthusiastic to see so many talented youngsters taking part in the event.
Thanks to all the competitors who took part in our inaugural year of competition and to all the our host trials and helpers throughout the run who made the competition such a success.
