The West held a rally day at Lanark Market on 10^th of July which incorporated the following events, Arts and Crafts, Tug of War and Young Farmer of the Year eliminations.

There was a fantastic turn out in the Arts and Crafts section with 12 junior and 15 senior teams competing.

The Junior theme was ‘Saving the Planet’ with articles, Something new for something old, Reusable shopping bag, Floral Display, Further Article and Appearance and Display.

The Results were:

1^st – Avondale
2^nd – Crossroads
3^rd – Avondale

Awards for individual articles:

Something new from something old: Kate Agnew, Stranraer & Rhins
Reusable Shopping Bag: Megan Turkington, Crossroads
Floral Display: Sarah Comrie, Lanark
Further Article: Jake Mitchell, Annandale and Cara Ginestri, Avondale
Appearance and Display: Jane Fleming and Iona Watson, Avondale

The senior theme was ‘Scotland’s Larder’ with articles, Promotional Posters, Chopping Board, Apron, Food Illusion Cake, Floral arrangement, Further Article and appearance and display.

The Results were:

1^st– Kilmaurs
2^nd– Carluke Purple
3^rd– Stranraer & Rhins

Tug of War

Ten ladies and Nine gents teams then took part in the Tug of War competition hoping to secure a place at the National Final held at the ‘Super Saturday’ event on Saturday 24^th of July.
